Background
José María has worked at the Madrid office since 2020. Over the course of his career as a lawyer and tax adviser, he has worked at Colón de Carvajal Abogados, ECIJA, and ACOSI Asesores.
Specialised in tax law, he focuses on both the direct and indirect taxation of domestic and international clients, including important business groups. Most of the clients that he assists are companies in the real estate sector, start-ups, and tech-based companies in sectors such as e-commerce, as well as blockchain-based entities. He also works frequently with high-net-worth individuals and family businesses.

Main areas of experience
José María has acted in matters including reorganisations of various corporate groups at both the domestic and international level. He is also actively involved in the internationalisation of companies in Latin America.
José María is an expert in taxation associated with the issuance of cryptocurrencies and digital tokens representing real assets. He also spends a significant amount of time on tax planning and defending the interests of the firm’s clients in tax proceedings, including both administrative and court proceedings.
He combines his professional activity with academic activity. José María collaborates frequently as a tax law professor at centres such as the Higher Institute of Law and Economics (ISDE).
